Bio

Mr. James ("Jay") Liotta has over 22+ years of experience with Mongolia, spending the first two as a United States Peace Corps volunteer, living and volunteering in Uvurkhangai Aimag from 2000 until 2002, and five years as the Executive Director of the Ulaanbaatar office of one of the first international law firms with a full-time presence in Mongolia before joining the Firm. Mr. Liotta advises on market entry strategies, local partner selection, and a diverse range of legal services in the minerals, corporate, energy, infrastructure, and financial sectors. Mr. Liotta is one of only two Mongolia-based lawyers ranked as an "Eminent Practioner" by Chambers Global and listed in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame (the other is Mr. Daniel Mahoney, the Firm's other name partner).

Mr. Liotta was acting as the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia (www.amcham.mn) and served as the co-chairperson of the Business Council of Mongolia's Legislative Working Group (2012-2016). He has experience interacting with various agencies in a number of different areas of law and is at the forefront of numerous legislative initiatives fundamental to investment and doing business in Mongolia. Mr. Liotta has represented clients in arbitration at the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and in the courts of Mongolia up through the Supreme Court of Mongolia.
